Welcome to the Legacy Tree Financial Blog

Hi, I’m Adam Mahoney—Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), Founding Partner of Legacy Tree Financial, husband, dad of three, and someone who genuinely loves helping people build financial security and confidence. If this is your first time here, thank you for stopping by. I started this blog to offer clarity, practical insights, and thoughtful strategies to individuals, families, and business owners who want to take control of their financial future.

Whether you're saving for retirement, navigating the complexities of business ownership, or just trying to make smarter money decisions for your family, you're in the right place. This blog is designed to be a resource you can rely on—no fluff, no jargon. Just real guidance rooted in real experience.

Who I Am

My journey into financial planning started long before I ever sat across from my first client. Growing up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, I was lucky enough to have a mom who introduced me to the basics of money management and the philosophies of Warren Buffett. This helped build a love for investments and finance.

That early passion only grew stronger. I went on to earn a dual major in Business Management and Marketing from Northwest Missouri State University and entered the financial services industry in 2015. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of people design lives of purpose, stability, and abundance.

Today, I live in Elkhorn, Nebraska with my amazing wife Brittany, our three incredible kids, and our energetic Goldendoodle. Between coaching soccer, watching football, and volunteering with our local youth, I stay pretty busy outside of the office. But every day, I come back to this mission: helping people make smart, confident financial decisions that align with the life they want to live.

What Legacy Tree Financial Stands For

At Legacy Tree Financial, our approach to financial planning is holistic and personal. We understand that no two clients are the same, which means no two plans should be either. Our focus areas include:

  • Financial Planning

  • Wealth Transfer Planning

  • Risk Management Strategies
  • Business Owner Planning

We don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions or pressuring clients into one-size-fits-all products. Instead, we listen, we ask questions, and we build a strategy that fits who you are—your goals, your values, your family, and your future.

What sets us apart? It’s our commitment to treating every client like an extension of our own family. Every decision we help you make is done with transparency, intention, and long-term care.

Why This Blog Exists

Let’s be honest: the financial world can be overwhelming. Between economic headlines, changing tax laws, and the hundreds of "must-know" tips circulating online, it's tough to know who to trust or what to do next.

That’s why I created this blog—to simplify the complex, to make financial conversations feel more human, and to provide genuinely useful advice that helps you move forward.

Here’s what you can expect from my posts:

  • Practical Strategies – How-to guidance on budgeting, retirement, investing, insurance, and tax planning.

  • Real-Life Lessons – Insights from my own life, my marriage, and my journey as a dad and entrepreneur. I also will share case studies when they are appropriate.

  • Timely Updates – What’s going on in the market, and how it could affect your financial life.

  • Business Owner Tips – Whether you’re running a startup or preparing for succession, I’ll share the tools and strategies that can make a real impact.

And most importantly: everything I share is designed to help you make more informed decisions and feel more confident in your financial future.

My goal is simple: to provide value that sparks conversations, answers questions, and leads to deeper connections. If something you read resonates with you, I hope you’ll reach out and schedule a time to chat. That’s what this is all about—building trust, offering help, and turning that help into meaningful progress.

What’s Next?

You can expect new blog posts a few times per month. I’ll cover everything from:

  • The financial habits that have helped my marriage thrive

  • How to create retirement income you can count on

  • Why business owners need a unique kind of financial plan

  • What to do with your 401(k) after changing jobs

  • How to make confident decisions in an uncertain market

...and a lot more. If you want to make sure you don’t miss anything, I recommend subscribing or following Legacy Tree Financial on social media.

Let’s Connect

If something you read on this blog sparks a question or hits home, I’d love to hear from you. My mission isn’t just to write blogs—it’s to build relationships. The more I know about your goals and your concerns, the better I can serve you.

Thanks again for visiting. I’m excited to share this journey with you, and I hope the stories and strategies you find here will empower you to build a legacy you’re proud of.
